From CBS Chicago:
About 20 supporters staged a rally across the street from the police
station in the south side Grand Crossing neighborhood to show their support for Chicago’s men and women in blue.
Quickly, police cars pulled up, officers clearly happy to be getting a pat on the back after so many have been spat upon, punched or subjected to in-your-face rants about racism.
The new 3rd District commander, Darren Doss, joined in saying he was pleased by the vote of support for the force.
“We have a great community. We have great officers who serve this community. And we want people to understand, throughout the Chicago area, that it’s not all officers that have done things we consider unjust,” said rally organizer Jose Wilson. “The vast majority are good officers.”
